About the Dress

Beautiful, timeless and hard to find larger plus size dress purchased from Bridal Image in San Francisco in 2008 for my 2008 wedding.

I’m including photos from both the designer and my wedding so you can see how it looks on both straight size and plus size people. Additionally, it’s easier to see the embroidered attachment (the “tails” as I call them) in the designer picture.

It zips up the back and the button detail goes from top of zipper all the way to the end of the train. The train is what I call a “drama-free” train, as in its long enough to be pretty but not so long that you need a helper to manage it.

Train ties up into a vintage style bustle. The embroidered tails can be attached or detached at any time. I don’t have pictures but it looked really pretty with the train bustled and the tails flowing over it. You can also include the tails in the bustling so you see just a hint of embroidery.

Overall the dress and tails are in great shape except for a few stains. Three small on right side mid-thigh and one larger towards the hemline (see photos). At the bottom hem in the back there is some light staining since our wedding was outdoors. My dry cleaner didn’t do a great job of cleaning them and I figure that a cleaner with experience in wedding dresses can likely remove them.

The material is silk peau de soie for the dress and regular heavy silk for the tails. There’s a bit of crinoline underneath to make it A-line but it’s not extreme. Everything has been stored in its original garment bag in a dark closet since dry cleaning after the wedding.

Hoping the dress goes to another plus size bride who might be having a challenging time finding something that’s pretty and comfortable to wear on the big day!
